No Quick Fixes

There Are No Quick Fixes

I’ll be straight with you—if you’re looking for the magic pill, the 6-week shred, or the detox tea that’s going to melt fat and change your life overnight… you’re going to be disappointed.

That stuff doesn’t work. Or at least, it doesn’t work for long. Yeah, maybe you’ll drop a few pounds quick, but give it a couple weeks and you’re right back where you started—frustrated, burnt out, and wondering what’s wrong with you.

Here’s the hard truth: there’s nothing wrong with you. What’s wrong is believing in the quick-fix lie.

What Actually Works

The people you see crushing workouts and hitting big goals? They didn’t find some secret hack. They just showed up. Over and over. They put in the reps when it wasn’t exciting, when it wasn’t sexy, when nobody was watching.

They trained consistently, ate in a way that supported their goals, and stayed accountable long enough to actually see change.

Not glamorous. Not “Instagram-worthy.” Just steady progress that lasts.

Progress > Perfection

At Hurricane CrossFit, we’re not here to sell you “get shredded in 30 days.” We’re here to help you build something real—strength, habits, confidence—that sticks.

Because here’s the deal:

  • You don’t need perfect. You need consistent.

  • The quick fix will always sound tempting, but it never delivers.

  • A year from now, you’ll wish you started today.

So… What’s Next?

If you’re tired of chasing shortcuts and ready to finally play the long game, we’re here for you. Come in, talk with a coach, and let’s get you moving in the right direction.

Do You Need To Be Fit To Do CrossFit?

Do You Have to Be Fit to Do CrossFit?

One of the most common things we hear is, “I’m not fit enough to do that,” or, “I haven’t worked out in a long time—I need to get in shape first.”
That’s like saying you need to be religious to go to church.

Do we have some incredibly fit people? Absolutely—and that’s proof of how effective CrossFit’s methodology is. But ask yourself: would you rather join a program where nobody looks fit?

We also have plenty of members who are just starting their fitness journey—moms and dads, grandparents, shift workers, and people with old injuries or bad joints. Our community covers a wide range of fitness levels.

Every day, we run workouts that can be scaled to match your abilities. You might see two people side-by-side doing burpees, squats, and deadlifts—yet with completely different loads or movements. Fitness doesn’t vary by kind, only by degree.

We’ll hold you accountable. We’ll push you. But we’ll also meet you exactly where you are.
No more holding back—it’s time to get in the best shape of your life.

You’re Getting Distracted

Let’s be real—we’ve all fallen for shiny object syndrome at some point. That new fitness trend everyone’s talking about. A supplement that promises to melt fat and make you smarter. A viral video telling you this one chemical is why you’re not losing weight.

It’s easy to get pulled into this stuff because it sounds exciting—and let’s face it, it sells. But none of it will give you the long-term results you actually want.

Here’s what you don’t hear enough:
If you want real, lasting change… it’s not about hacks, detoxes, or secret ingredients.

Talk to anyone who’s maintained their health and fitness for 10+ years and you’ll hear the same story:
👉 They train 3–5x per week
👉 They eat real food in proper portions
👉 They prioritize sleep, movement, hydration
👉 And they do it consistently over time

That’s it. No mystery. Just the basics—done well, for a long time.

Now here’s the trap:
You might see someone online who just lost 30 pounds and think, “I’ll do what they’re doing!” But you have to be cautious there too. Because what a lot of people won’t say out loud is they’re using extra “help”—injections, medications, or other things that give them a temporary shortcut. That doesn’t make them bad people, but it does mean they’re not always a source of solid, sustainable advice.

So don’t take your long-term health advice from someone who’s been “on track” for 90 days. Talk to the folks who’ve kept it up for 10+ years.

We know this stuff isn’t flashy. It won’t go viral. But it works—and it sticks.
You just need to stop chasing the next magic fix and start committing to the basics.

If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and actually see results that last—we’re here for that. Coaches who care, a real plan, and a community to keep you showing up.

Why Most Gyms Fail You

Why Most Gyms Fail You

If you’ve looked at the data around America’s health, it’s no surprise—we’re getting heavier year after year. In 1990, only 25% of Louisiana’s population was considered obese. By 2020, that number hit 48.8%, and it’s projected to climb to 57.2% by 2030.

So what gives? We have more access to information and gyms than ever before. You can Google “how to lose weight” and get a thousand strategies. And yet the numbers keep rising.

One major reason? Lack of accountability.

The more people around you who are overweight, the more likely you are to fall into the same patterns. And most gyms? They’re built to let that happen.

Take Planet Fitness. Their entire model is based on signing up 10,000 people at $10/month and hoping you never show up. Ever wonder how they have 10,000 members and only 10 treadmills? They’re betting on you quitting before you even start. No follow-up. No accountability. No real coaching.

At Hurricane, that’s not how we operate.

We notice when you don’t show up. Miss a couple of weeks? You’re getting a text asking where you’ve been. Show up but look like you’re sleepwalking through your workout? We’re going to give you the push you need. Because we actually give a damn whether you’re getting better or not.

You already know what to do. You just need someone in your corner to make sure you actually do it.

CrossFit Is For Anyone But Not for Everyone

CrossFit Is for Anyone — But Not for Everyone

Let’s start with the truth:
CrossFit is for anyone.
But — and this part matters — it’s not for everyone.

Now, before the pitchforks come out, hear me out.

Anyone Can Start

If you’ve ever walked past a CrossFit gym and thought:
“Those people are way too fit for me to be in there.”
…you’re not alone. But you’re also wrong.

Because CrossFit can be scaled to any fitness level. That’s kind of the whole point.

  • New to working out? We got you.
  • Coming off an injury? We can modify.
  • Want to drop body fat, build strength, move better, and feel like a badass? You’re in the right place.

Whether you’re 65 and trying to get off blood pressure meds, or 25 and training for a Spartan race, the programming can be adjusted for your goals, body, and experience level.

So yes — anyone can do CrossFit. But here’s the flip side…

Not Everyone Wants to Do CrossFit — And That’s Okay

CrossFit asks a lot from you.
It’s mentally and physically demanding. It forces you to confront your weaknesses. It requires effort, consistency, and the willingness to get uncomfortable.

Some people don’t want that. Some people want headphones in, eyes down, and 45 minutes of elliptical and bicep curls.
And guess what? That’s totally fine.

If you need something lower intensity, or you just prefer other training styles — cool. Do what keeps you moving.
But if you want to be coached, pushed, and surrounded by people who will root for you harder than you root for yourself… CrossFit delivers.

You Have to Want It

CrossFit doesn’t work for people who are lukewarm about growth.
It works for people who show up and give a damn — even when life is hectic, messy, and exhausting.

You don’t have to be the fittest person in the room. You just have to care enough to try. That’s it.

Final Thought

CrossFit is like a choose-your-own-adventure story — only with barbells, sweat, and high-fives. It’s not reserved for elite athletes or former college stars. It’s for anyone willing to show up and do the work.

But it’s not for everyone — and that’s okay.
If you’re ready to challenge yourself, grow, and find a community that actually gives a damn — we’re here.

Maybe Group Class Isn’t For You — And That’s Totally Okay

Maybe Group Class Isn’t For You — And That’s Totally Okay

Let’s be real: stepping into a group class can feel intimidating.
We’ve heard it all before—
“I don’t want people watching me.”
“I’m afraid I won’t know what to do.”
“I’ll probably be the least fit person there.”

Here’s the truth: group classes are awesome for a lot of people. The energy, the camaraderie, the shared suffering—it can be a powerful and motivating environment. But that doesn’t mean it works for everyone, and that’s okay.

Maybe you’re just starting out and have no idea what a thruster is (don’t worry, we’ll teach you).
Maybe you’ve been dealing with an injury and need more specific guidance.
Maybe life’s been chaotic and you need something focused, efficient, and flexible.
Or maybe, you just prefer working solo with a coach who’s 100% tuned into you.

That’s where personal training comes in.
One-on-one sessions allow us to build workouts around your goals, needs, and current fitness level. It’s not a generalized program—it’s custom. Think ordering a cake exactly the way you want it vs. picking one off the shelf. Both are good, but only one is made for you.

It also removes the guesswork. No more worrying if you’re doing something wrong or if people are watching. Your coach is there to guide every movement, keep you safe, and make sure you’re progressing with purpose.

At Hurricane, we offer 30- or 60-minute private sessions. Whether your goal is weight loss, strength, mobility, or just staying active through a busy season of life—we’ve got you.

So if group class hasn’t felt quite right—or you’re just not sure it’s your thing—that doesn’t mean you don’t belong here. It might just mean you need a different path.
And we’re here to help you find it.

Want to learn more about personal training or try a session? Shoot us a message. Let’s figure out what works best for you.

What Does a Class Look Like at Hurricane CrossFit?

What Does a Class Look Like at Hurricane CrossFit?

Let’s walk you through what a typical 60-minute class looks like at Hurricane CrossFit. Whether it’s your first day or your 500th, you’re likely to be greeted by name by one of our coaches—probably with a little friendly banter to go along with it.

📋 Whiteboard Briefing

We kick things off by gathering everyone around the whiteboard. Here, the coach will explain the workout of the day (also known as the WOD). During this brief, we’ll cover how to approach the workout for the day, including scaling options for more advanced movements, volume considerations, and tips to help you get the most out of your time.

🔥 Warm-Up

After the brief, we move into the warm-up. A coach will lead you step-by-step through 10–20 minutes of movements designed to raise your core temperature, mobilize your joints, and prime your body for the workout ahead.

💪 Strength Work

Most days, we’ll start with a dedicated strength piece. At Hurricane, we follow structured 6-week strength cycles. For example, if we’re back squatting on Mondays, we’ll progressively increase volume or intensity over those 6 weeks. This approach helps you build strength safely, improve movement quality, and actually see progress over time.

Before the strength portion begins, your coach will demo the movement and explain key points of performance. You’ll get a chance to practice while your coach offers real-time feedback. (Don’t worry—nobody moves perfectly, and that’s what we’re here for.)

🧠 Conditioning

Next comes the conditioning piece, which can last anywhere from 3 to 35 minutes depending on the day. This variety is intentional—it helps train different energy systems for a more well-rounded level of fitness.

Think of it like this: sprinters and long-distance runners are built differently. We train both ends of the spectrum, so you develop both power and endurance. Some workouts use weights, others are bodyweight-focused. Some include running, some don’t. The goal is to expose you to different time domains, movements, and intensities—so you’re ready for whatever life throws at you.

Just like with strength, the coach will demo all the movements, answer questions, and help you scale the workout appropriately. We use a color-coded system to help guide your workout based on your fitness level. So whether you’re brand new or have been training for years, you’ll get a workout that challenges you—without crushing you.

🎯 Group Energy & Coaching Support

During the workout, your coach will walk around offering encouragement, coaching cues, and high fives. One of the best parts of Hurricane is the group energy—you’ll push harder with people around you than you would on your own. And don’t stress—everyone’s too focused on their own workout to be worried about yours. Promise.

🧘 Cooldown & Wrap-Up

We finish every class by cleaning up equipment and doing a coach-led group stretch. During this time, we’ll share class highlights, upcoming workouts, gym announcements, and sometimes sprinkle in a little nutrition talk too.

Every day is different, but the structure remains the same: expert coaching, a thoughtful plan, and a workout that pushes you in all the right ways. If you’re ready to get stronger, fitter, and healthier, head to our homepage and schedule a free meeting with a coach.

Let’s get after it 💥

Health Is Hard as a Parent

Health Is Hard as a Parent

Once you become a parent, you start to wonder—what the hell did I even do with all my free time before kids? Then they start getting older, jumping into every sport, school event, and birthday party imaginable, and suddenly it feels like all you do is work and parent. Somewhere in there, you’re supposed to squeeze in time for yourself… but let’s be honest—it doesn’t usually happen.

And when you do finally get a sliver of free time, it’s often spent doing things that don’t exactly rechar;;/ge you:

🍷 A drink to unwind

🍕 Snacking mindlessly

📱 Scrolling

📺 Staying up way too late binge-watching something forgettable

You know you should take care of yourself. Deep down, you know that if you don’t pour into your own cup, you can’t fully show up for the people who need you most. That’s why we make it easier at Hurricane.

We offer childcare Monday through Friday at our:

  • 9am

  • 4pm

  • 5pm

  • 6pm classes

That’s one hour of uninterrupted time for you. No crying, no questions, no chaos—just a chance to move your body, relieve stress, and refill your tank.

This isn’t selfish. It’s responsible. As parents, we set the tone. And prioritizing our health sets an example we’ll be proud to pass on to our kids.

At Hurricane, we work hard to reduce the friction between your life and your health. If you’re ready to take that step, schedule a time to meet with a coach. We’ll help you build something sustainable—for you and for your family.

Struggling with Accountability? You’re Not Alone.

Let’s be real—we all know we should take care of our health. You’ve probably had moments where you got into a groove: a few weeks of workouts, maybe even some healthy meals, and you start feeling good. But then… life happens. Work ramps up, the kids get sick, travel picks up, or motivation dips—and just like that, your health gets bumped to the back burner again.

The problem isn’t that you don’t care. It’s that health is one of those things that’s important, but rarely feels urgent—until something forces it to be.

Here’s the truth: most of us don’t need more information. We need more accountability. Someone to check in, remind us of our goals, and help us stay on the path when things get hectic.

That’s why we’ve built a system for accountability at Hurricane CrossFit—one that actually supports you for the long haul:

Your First 8 Weeks: Foundation & Support

When you first start with us, you’ll have a coach personally reaching out, guiding you through your first eight weeks. They’ll help you create a game plan based on your schedule, your fitness level, and your goals. It’s not about throwing you into the fire—it’s about building a sustainable foundation with real structure and support.

Months 3–6: Habit-Building Phase

After those first 8 weeks, we don’t leave you hanging. A coach will continue to check in with you monthly for the next few months to make sure those habits are sticking. We’ll help troubleshoot anything that isn’t working and keep adjusting your game plan as needed.

Beyond 6 Months: Long-Term Planning

Once you’ve got some traction, we’ll help you zoom out. Together, we’ll create a 90–120 day game plan tailored to your current goals—whether that’s fat loss, strength gains, better consistency, or just feeling more confident in your body. From there, we create actionable steps to keep moving forward.

Miss a Week or Two? We’ve Got You.

Life happens. You’ll get off track. But when you do, a coach is going to check in. Not to shame you—but to help you course correct before a week turns into a month.

The truth is, creating a healthier life is simple—but not always easy. And it’s not something you should try to figure out alone. Most of us just need a little structure, a little support, and someone in our corner who gives a damn.

So if you’re struggling to stay consistent with your workouts or keep falling off the wagon with your nutrition, let’s talk. Book a time to meet with a coach—we’ll help you find your starting point and walk with you every step of the way.

You don’t need to go it alone. We’ve got your back.

How Beginners Start at Hurricane CrossFit

How Beginners Start at Hurricane CrossFit

We’ve heard it all before:

“I’m too out of shape to do CrossFit.”

“I’m too old.”

“I have a bad back.”

“I’m scared I won’t know what to do.”

The list goes on—and we get it.

But here’s the truth: CrossFit is for everybody—but not for just anybody.

What we mean by that is simple: our style of training isn’t for everyone, and that’s totally okay. But saying you can’t do CrossFit? That’s just not true.

This blog post is here to show you exactly how we onboard new members at Hurricane CrossFit and prove that no matter your current fitness level, we have a version of the workout that’s right for you.

Step 1: Meet With a Coach

Before we start any training, we sit down one-on-one with you. We want to know your goals, your workout history, and why you haven’t been consistent—or why you’re thinking about making a switch now.

This helps us understand where you’re coming from and create a game plan tailored specifically for you. Everyone’s starting point is different, and your path forward should reflect that.

Step 2: Phase 1 – Private Intro Sessions

This phase includes two personal training sessions with a coach. These aren’t meant to crush you—they’re designed to help us better understand your current fitness level.

We’ll walk you through a variety of exercises and movements across multiple areas: strength, conditioning, mobility, and endurance.

Don’t worry if you feel like you’re “at the bottom of the barrel.” We’ve worked with everyone—from collegiate athletes to 85-year-olds. We promise, there’s a version of the workout that works for you.

Step 3: Phase 2 – Hybrid Sessions

Next up: six hybrid sessions. This means you’ll join a group class, but you won’t be flying solo. You’ll have a coach right next to you to modify workouts, slow down movement progressions, and make sure everything makes sense.

You’ll still get the energy and vibe of the group setting, but with individualized attention to make sure you’re moving efficiently and safely.

Step 4: Group Class

Now, the real fun begins.

Once you transition into regular group classes, you’ll still be guided every step of the way. Every class starts with the coach breaking down the workout, offering scaled options, and walking you through warm-ups, progressions, and cool-downs.

Even if you have past injuries or limitations, we’ll help you find a version that works for you. You’ll never be left guessing what to do.

And just because you’re in the group doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Our coaches continue to check in, hold you accountable, and help guide your progress—whether you’ve been here for three days, three months, or three years.

So if you’ve made it this far, stop hesitating. Book your free consult and meet with a coach today. We’ll take it from there.

Your future self will thank you.
